Lycoptera davidi † [Fossil] In the Early Cretaceous of the Mesozoic or about one hundred and twenty million years ago(120,000,000 years ago), there lived a unique and archaic biota in northern China, Mongolia, Siberia, Korea and Japan, which is usually dubbed the Jehol Biota and best represented in western Liaoning Province, Northeast China.The extremely well preserved Mesozoic fresh water deposits in this region account for the discoveries of over 20 groups of plant and animal fossils, including plentiful and exceptional feathered dinosaurs, early birds, primitive mammals and flowered plants,All the fossil specimens are housed in the institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
