[A large quantity of animal bones from of the Pleistocene period dated around 10000 B.C. were excavated at the site of Aetokremmos at Akrotiri. These animal bones were found together with stone tools, an indication that these animals were the prey of hunters. The find constitutes the most ancient evidence of human presence in Cyprus. The discovered bones belong to the species of pigmy hippopotamuses and elephants.]
